The people behind
the journeys

Mbire Legends is a Zimbabwe safari and tours company built around one place: Kanyemba, where the Zambezi and the Luangwa meet, close to the borders of Zambia and Mozambique.

We plan journeys on the river's terms — unhurried, carefully organised and led by people who know the valley. Our itineraries bring wildlife, culture and conservation into focus: dinosaur footprints and the petrified forest, the salt pans and the slave holding bays that carry the region's history, and Dande Conservancy, home to elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard.

Beyond guiding, we are invested in the district's future — from development consultancy for the Mbire Rural District Council to a riverside golf vision on the Zambezi. Tell us who is travelling and we will shape the rest around you.

Days 1–2

A proposed arrival and orientation in Kanyemba, followed by tiger fishing and a Zambezi sundowner cruise. The cruise looks across the river to the Luangwa confluence, where Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique meet. Include a historical visit to the slave holding bays, approaching this difficult history with care and respect.

Day 3

Explore dinosaur footprints, visit the petrified forest and discover the salt pans. The exact sites, access and guiding arrangements will be confirmed when planning your trip. Observe these fragile places without disturbing them.
03Dande Conservancy · four of the Big Five

Days 4–5

Continue with a wildlife-focused visit to Dande Conservancy. Elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard are the four Big Five species at the heart of this tour focus; sightings are never guaranteed. Fishing, cruises and site visits are subject to conditions, permits and availability. Allow time for travel and a relaxed departure.
